What is Hastelloy C276?

Hastelloy C276 is a nickel-based high-temperature alloy. Its core matrix consists of high-purity nickel, combined with chromium, molybdenum, tungsten, and extremely low levels of carbon. It is one of the few industrial metal materials capable of withstanding both oxidative and reductive corrosion environments.

Ordinary stainless steel studs are highly prone to safety hazards such as rust, stripped threads, and stress cracking under operating conditions in industries such as chemical processing, flue gas desulfurization, fluorine chemistry, and oil and gas extraction. In contrast, Hastelloy C276 double-ended studs leverage the superior comprehensive properties of nickel-based alloys to withstand harsh environments such as high temperatures, strong acids, and chlorine- or sulfur-containing media. With a service life of over ten years, they are widely used in various highly corrosive industrial equipment.

Our Hastelloy C276 double-ended studs with nuts feature a standard double-ended stud design with complete precision threads at both ends and a smooth shaft in the middle. They are suitable for the assembly and fastening of large flanges, pressure vessels, and heat exchangers, offering easy installation and removal, uniform stress distribution, and enhanced sealing stability.

Core Advantages

  • While most corrosion-resistant materials on the market can only withstand a single corrosive medium, C276 can simultaneously withstand strong acids, sulfur-containing flue gas, chlorine-containing brine, halogenated chemicals, and high-temperature salt spray. A single material is suitable for a wide range of chemical process conditions.
  • Suitable for temperatures ranging from ambient to 600°C. Tensile and yield strengths degrade minimally under high-temperature and high-pressure conditions, offering excellent pressure-bearing and tensile performance, making it ideal for pressure vessels and high-temperature piping systems.
  • No risk of intergranular corrosion after welding; the weld zone maintains the same corrosion resistance as the base material, ensuring no performance limitations during on-site equipment maintenance or splicing.
  • Resists uniform corrosion, pitting corrosion, crevice corrosion, intergranular corrosion, and hydrogen sulfide stress corrosion simultaneously, eliminating equipment flange leaks and fastener failure at the source.

Main Application Areas

  • Environmental Protection Industry: Flanges for desulfurization and denitrification (FGD) absorption towers and acid/alkali exhaust gas pipelines, resistant to corrosion from flue gas containing a mixture of sulfur dioxide and chloride ions.
  • Chemical Industry: Strong acid reactors, fluorine chemical processing, and bromide purification equipment.
  • Oil and Gas Industry: Sulfur-containing oil and gas wellheads and high-pressure transmission pipelines.
  • Other Fields: Seawater treatment, nuclear power plant waste liquid processing equipment, new energy etching machines, and paper bleaching production lines.

Current safety and production control standards in China’s chemical and environmental protection industries are extremely stringent, with mandatory requirements for specialized corrosion-resistant fasteners in high-corrosion pressure vessels and piping systems. Thanks to their comprehensive performance—combining corrosion resistance, strength, and high-temperature stability—Hastelloy C276 double-ended studs have become indispensable foundational fasteners for industrial installations operating in extreme corrosive environments.
