What is the SEMS screws?

2025-01-22

SEMS screws are also called combination screws, include screws and washers, and washers cannot be removed. Common SEMS screws include hexagonal SEMS screws, hexagon socket SEMS screws, pan head SEMS screws, and torx socket SEMS screws.

SEMS screws eliminate the steps of assembling flat washers and spring washers, significantly improving the assembly speed. Traditional screw assembly requires the installation of flat washers and spring washers separately, which not only takes a lot of time and manpower, but also easily leads to omissions or incorrect installation.

The SEMS screw integrates the flat washers, spring washers and the screw, so that the assembly workers can complete the fixing of multiple parts with only one action, greatly simplifying the operation process.

So how are SEMS screws produced? Why don't washers fall off the screws?

First, the cold heading machine will punch out the head of the screw first, and then use an automatic machine to install the washer on the screw. The inner diameter of the washer must be smaller than the diameter of the thread to ensure that the washer will not fall off the screw. Finally, make the thread of the screws.

The materials of SEMS screws are divided into steel and stainless steel. Steel screws usually use Q235B, 10B21, 40CrMo and SCM435, among which 10B21 is often used for 8.8 grade combination screws, 40CrMo and SCM435 are often used for 10.9 and 12.9 grade combination screws. Stainless steel SEMS screws usually use SUS304 and SUS316 materials.

SEMS screws are commonly used in automobile manufacturing, electronic equipment, precision instruments, shipbuilding industry and aerospace.
